صوّتت الجمعيّة العامة للامم المتحدة الجمعة بغالبية كبرى، تأييداً لطلب عضوية فلسطين في المنظمة الاممية، وذلك في قرار يحمل طابعاً رمزيّاً بسبب الفيتو الاميركي في مجلس الامن.

وحصد القرار الذي ينصّ على وجوب "انضمام الفلسطينيين الى المنظمة" مع منحهم حقوقاً إضافيّة كدولة مراقب، تأييد 143 عضواً مقابل اعتراض 9 أعضاء وامتناع 25 عن التصويت.
